2015 Rotax Pro Tour Rd 6

The Pro Tour returned to Puckapunyal, the first time since the Nationals in 2013. This round would determine the Victorian State Champion in each class so racing was always going to be tough.

In Mini MAX, one of the favourites was Tony Kart driver Jaiden Pope who has steered his Tony Kart Nordix chassis to victory at both the Warwick and Eastern Creek rounds. Jaiden qualified in 3rd position with fellow Tony Kart drivers Luke Pink, Jay Hanson & Gabriel Gasperak in 4th, 5th & 6th position. With consistent heat results and good pre-finals, Gabriel Gasperak finished the final in 3rd position with Jaiden Pope in 4th and Sean Larkin in 5th position.

Junior MAX was the Thomas Hughes show!. There was only 1 session where Tom wasn't the fastest and in that session he was 2nd by only 0.018 of a second. Qualifying was very close with Tom snatching pole position from another Tony Kart driver and current Australian Champion Zane Morse, on the very last lap!. Josh Fife was 5th less than 1 tenth away from pole position. Tom went onto win the pre-final by 2.3 seconds over Josh Fife. The start of the final was hard with Tom going back to second, but only for 2 laps before moving back into the lead and driving away to win the final by a huge 4.1 seconds! Tony Kart driver Joh Fife rounded out the podium in 3rd place.

Victorian Tony Kart driver Thomas Prascevic qualified in 3rd position in Rotax Light, with fellow Tony Kart drivers Nathan Tigani in 6th and Wayne Bourke in 12th. All 3 drivers moved forward in the heats to start 2nd, 3rd & 6th for the pre-final and after a tough race, Prasevic would finish in 4th, Tigani in 7th and Bourke in 13th position. After a long 20 lap final Nathan Tigani would be the highest placed Tony Kart in 3rd position, Thomas Prascevic finished in 6th with Wayne Bourke crossing the line in 9th position.

In Rotax Heavy it was a Tony Kart front row with Clem O'Mara on pole position with QLD driver Chris Farkas in second and Stable Karting driver Bruce Otter in 9th position. Clem O'Mara won all 3 heats and Chris won the pre-final. In the final an incident put Chris out of the race but Clem O'Mara continued on his winning ways by claiming the victory by over 7 seconds!

in the DD2 class, it was very close in qualifying with Karting World driver Chris Bregonje qualifying in second position behind Lee Mitchener. In fact Lee and Chris had the exact same laptime for pole position! At the end of qualifying the top 3 drivers were seperated by only 0.002 of a second. Nicklaus Lichtenberger was 13th, Travis Millar was 14th and Joel Smith 15th and The Kartworks driver Nathan Taylor was 17th. Heat 1 was wet and slippery with Lichtenberger finishing in 6th, Millar 7th, Bregonje 11th, Taylor 13th, Smith 14th. The rest of the heats were all about tyre wear and trying to look after them so they were good for the final. At the end of the final Lichtenberger finished in 4th with Millar in 5th, Joel Smith was 7th and Nathan Taylor was 12th with Bregonje DNF.

Karting World driver Adam Hunter qualified in 2nd position in DD2 Masters. Tony Bregonje was 9th, Glen Stallbaum 10th and Steph Majman in 14th. Adam won heat 2 and placed in the other heats to start the final from grid 2. At the flag Adam Hunter claimed 3rd position, Bregonje 8th, Stallbaum 10th.

Congratulations to the Tony Kart drivers who finished in the top 3 of the Victorian State Titles.
